1. Primary and Secondary Education (Ages 7–16)
- To enroll in Singapore’s public schools, international students must pass the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) exam. The AEIS exam is conducted in September and February every year, and it evaluates students’ English and Mathematics skills. International students may prepare for AEIS exam through specialized preparatory courses.
2. Pre-University Education (Ages 17–19)
- Students aiming to enroll in Junior Colleges or Polytechnics can take the Singapore GCE O-Level exam. International students may prepare for the O-Level exam through specialized preparatory courses, and take the exam in October every year. Subjects tested in the exam include English, Math, Science and Humanities.
- Students who have completed high school education in their home country may directly apply to Singapore’s polytechnics by taking the entrance test. Subjects tested in the entrance test include English, Math and Science. International students may prepare for the Polytechnic test through specialized preparatory courses.
3. University Education (Age 18 and above)
- Students need to meet specific admission criteria such as achieving a Diploma qualification. Universities in Singapore also require proof of proficiency in English, such as IELTS or TOEFL scores. International students may study a Diploma program before progressing to universities in Singapore, or prepare for the IELTS test through specialized preparatory courses.
